Blossom
Description
This is one of several “mandala spiral pours” using cadmium orange, gold, silver, green gold, teal, black, pthalo turquoise, quinacridone violet, and titanium white. I painted over another painting using similar colors. Paints are layered into a single pour cup and poured over wet pthalo turquoise.
I spiraled the canvas on a lazy Susan spice rack, then spun the painting to stretch out the colors evenly in all directions. The corners were filled in with violet, spun a little more, and let dry.
It has many qualities of a perfect fluid painting: it contains a cloudy effect, it is a mandala, there is a fractal effect, can be hung in any direction, bold colors, and mixed muted tones for depth and delicacy.
